Freedom camping, Otago, 2009

Warwick Keedwell pegs out the laundry while his wife Ngaire supervises from their campervan, parked at Warrington Domain. The domain, a beachside park north of Dunedin, is popular for freedom camping. The Keedwells, of Tauranga, had been touring the country for several months, visiting family in the South Island and stopping wherever they felt like it. Their vehicle served as the 21st century campers' equivalent of a car and caravan, or tent and packhorse.
