Not all Tongans accept a non-elected monarchy. Since 1989 Kalafi Moala has published Taimi ‘o Tonga (Times of Tonga), a bi-weekly paper which advocates democracy. The paper was moved to Auckland in 1995 to escape the restrictions back home. In 2003 it was produced from a garage in Penrose, and it was an offence to bring copies into Tonga.
