Asher brothers (1 o 5)

Asher brothers

Albert Asher (top) and his brother Ernie, who had been very successful players of rugby union, were members of the first Māori rugby league team, which toured Australia in 1908. They went on to contribute to rugby league in a variety of ways, including helping found the City Rovers league club in Auckland in 1910, and representing New Zealand in 1911 (Ernest) and 1913 (Albert).
