The strategy board game Cathedral, shown here being played in Seattle, in the US, in 2008, has been sold worldwide since its invention by New Zealander Bob Moore in the late 1970s. Moore, a pilot, was inspired by aerial views of Christchurch Cathedral to develop a game based within the walls of a medieval city. His game won a New Zealand Designmark award in 1985 and was included in gift bags given to celebrities at the 2012 Oscar award ceremony in Los Angeles.
