Artists and writers (from left) Janet Potiki, Robyn Kahukiwa and Patricia Grace show two contrasting styles worn in the mid-1980s. Hair was long and down in both styles, but one featured masses of curly hair – a classic ‘big hair’ do. The other is a continuation of the 1970s long, straight style. Both styles avoid the heavy use of sprays, elaborate techniques and hair additions.
