Model house (2 o 2)

Model house

Officials and guests are shown at the blessing of a new state house in Porirua in the early 2000s. It was purpose-built to accommodate a three-generation Tokelauan family of 11, who had previously lived in a cold and overcrowded dwelling in the same area. After moving in, the family felt happier and healthier. The house was warm and children had room to play; the teenagers had space to do their homework and were doing better at school. The house provided a model for extended-family living.
