Campbell Island Nature Reserve

Campbell Island Nature Reserve

Despite over a century of attempts at settlement, the subantarctic islands are now uninhabited and all are nature reserves. This sign is on Campbell Island, which became a reserve in 1954. By 1961 all the islands had been declared reserves and in 1998 they became a world heritage area.
