Rhythmic gymnast Jenny Metcalfe of Otago competes in the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Invitation Games in Christchurch in December 2005. Athletes who compete in national Special Olympics events may become eligible for international competitions. The Special Olympics World Summer Games are held every four years. The Special Olympics World Winter Games are also held every four years, on an alternating two-year cycle.
