One of New Zealand's greatest athletes, Yvette Williams, is seen attempting to break her own world long-jump record at Carisbrook, Dunedin, in January 1954. Later in the year she won gold medals at the Vancouver Empire and Commonwealth Games for the long jump, discus and shot put.
