Bastion Point police cordon

Bastion Point police cordon

Police encircle protesters at Takaparawhā (Bastion Point), Auckland, before moving in to arrest them in May 1978. The protesters’ buildings were then demolished, leaving behind little evidence of the 507-day occupation of the area by Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei and their supporters.
