
As a train approaches Kiwi railway station, women sit on the line knitting and chatting. The group was protesting against the 1955 closure of the Nelson railway line. After 10 days police moved in and arrested nine of the women for obstruction. They were convicted in court and fined, but supporters soon paid their fines.
