The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron

These are members of the Chemical Biological Radioactive Explosive (CBRE) team in their HazChem suits in May 2008. The CBRE team are part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron (EOD), otherwise known as the Bomb Squad. The team were demonstrating their skills and equipment at the official opening of the EOD premises at Trentham army camp. The EOD is a New Zealand Defence Force unit made up of members from the army, navy and air force. They are trained to deal with all kinds of explosives, including chemical, biological and radioactive weapons. They also handle the disposal of obsolete military ordnance, unusable explosives and other weapons that are still potentially dangerous.
