Michael Green, New Zealand's high commissioner to Fiji, and his wife, Gillian, arrive at Auckland airport in June 2007 after their expulsion by the interim government of Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama. Bainimarama had led a coup that replaced Fiji's elected government the previous year. He claimed that Green had met with members of the deposed government, and accused him of interfering in Fiji's domestic affairs. Green was also accredited as high commissioner to Tuvalu and Nauru. Two more New Zealand diplomats were expelled in 2008 and 2009.
