Windy Wellington

Windy Wellington

Wellington is known for its wind, and large wind turbines constructed between 2007 and 2009 at Mākara, to the city's west, provide a significant source of electric power. Wellington's strong winds have a much less positive effect on the life span of the city’s umbrellas – as seen here in 1975.
