The Dominion of New Zealand: 1907 Imperial Conference

This is the opening of the Imperial Conference in London in 1907. New Zealand's premier, Sir Joseph Ward, is seated at the far left. The conference agreed that self-governing colonies like New Zealand should be distinguished from Crown colonies. Henceforth the self-governing colonies would be known as 'dominions'.
