George Summerfell, burglar

This mug shot shows George Summerfell (aged 65), a burglar who was charged on two counts of breaking and entering and was sentenced to four months in jail in Wellington in 1890. His hands are held across his chest, as at the time the police used hand features (some criminals were missing fingers) to help them identify suspects.
