Kōrero: Diverse Christian churches

Trinity Congregational Church, Christchurch

Trinity Congregational Church, Christchurch

This is architect Benjamin Mountfort's drawing for the Gothic-revival Trinity Congregational Church in Christchurch, which opened in 1875. A smaller Congregational church had existed on the same site, on the corner of Worcester and Manchester streets, since 1864. In the early 2000s the building was used as a music venue and restaurant. Seriously damaged in the earthquake of 22 February 2011, the building was restored by 2018.
