Working-class people in Dunedin were likely to be found on the flat ground of Caversham, where the houses were one-storey and small. The area suffered from poor drainage and was often polluted with smoke from factories.

Hi my early ancestors on my fathers side lived in Caversham. James Dunn Beatson was my grandfather+ Robins his wife. He was a champion otago, NZ and Australasian runner on both track and cross country. They lived at 3 Lomond street, but believe they were at Corstophlne before this. John
