Youth intervention

Youth intervention

A minority of youths gravitate toward gangs and a life of crime. To combat the appeal of gangs, the Manukau City Council sponsored a range of sporting and cultural activities, including this kapa haka (performing arts) group. These types of interventions focus on preventing young people joining gangs in the first place. In 2007 over half of Manukau’s population was aged under 30.
