Kōrero: Women’s movement

Social Welfare Minister Norman King examines a report presented to him by members of the Women's Electoral Lobby (WEL), including co-founders Marijke Robinson (third from left) and Judy Zavos (far right), in 1975. Because one of WEL's central purposes was to lobby politicians on matters concerning women, members had more to do with parliamentarians than most women's organisations. In this case, they were presenting King with a survey of the elderly done by WEL.
