Paddle steamer

Paddle steamer

The Rawhiti II, a stern-wheel paddle steamer built by the Roose Shipping Company to work the Waikato River, passes under the Hamilton railway bridge on its first voyage in 1925. The vessel, which carried passengers and all kinds of cargoes, became a familiar sight on the river. Caesar Roose and his fleet dominated river transport in the 20th century.
