Women's Refuge

Women's Refuge

Marlene Bolton, manager of Camellia House women's refuge in Auckland was photographed in October 2006 with emergency clothing bags and other goods provided to women and children using the refuge. Camellia House was at that time the only refuge that catered specifically for women with mental health or addiction problems caused by domestic violence. The idea of setting up more specialist refuges was under threat because of meagre government funding of the existing 39 refuges.
