The Pacific Expression Culture Group performs at a Destiny Church conference in Auckland in 2008. Pentecostal churches like Destiny have attracted some Pacific Islanders who were dissatisfied with traditional churches. The promotion of a personal relationship with God, more lively services and less emphasis on cultural obligations – but within a familiar hierarchical and socially conservative church structure –  has particularly appealed to Samoan Christians.
