Petone's Sacred Heart (Catholic) Church includes a large Tokelauan community. The building combines European and Pacific influences. This alcove in the church's nave features a statue of Jesus Christ wearing a lei. The back wall is covered in a traditional Pacific mat, while the side wall sports a Tokelauan carving.
