Neil Bartlett, Betty Ford and Stuart Hobbs at the Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain celebrate the launch of OUTline, a national gay and lesbian counselling support service. The personal difficulties faced by gay and lesbian people in New Zealand are often severe, and there is a heightened risk of suicide among this group. In 2011 the free confidential telephone counselling service, run by OUTLine, was supported by over 90 volunteers. The number in 2011 was 0800 688 5463.
