
As well as offering children's health advice, Plunket provided parents (mainly mothers) with opportunities for social contact and meaningful experiences outside the home. Many women volunteered for Plunket committees for these reasons, and as a way of thanking Plunket for its services. These mothers are painting the Strathmore Park Plunket rooms in Wellington in 1950.
