The 'Big Latch On', 2009

The 'Big Latch On', 2009

From the 1970s groups like La Leche League promoted breastfeeding, which had been in decline for most of the 20th century. Breastfeeding rates increased as a result of their efforts. In the 2000s Women's Health Action organised an annual event called the 'Big Latch On' to mark World Breastfeeding Week. Breastfeeding mothers got together and fed their babies at the same time, with the aim of breaking previous records. These mothers are feeding their babies in Dunedin’s Wall Street Mall.
