Signing a contract with the Justice Department

Signing a contract with the Justice Department

From 1960 onwards the New Zealand Prisoners' Aid and Rehabilitation Society (NZPARS) and the Department of Justice worked together to provide services for prisoners and their families, particularly support for those being released from prison. In 1995 a formal contract was signed outlining the particular services that the department would fund. Like many other voluntary organisations, NZPARS was becoming a not-for-profit service organisation whose activities were influenced by the availability of funding from central government.
