Band rotunda, Auckland Domain

People enjoy the music at the band rotunda in the Auckland Domain, during the Auckland Exhibition in December 1913. The rotunda was a gift from a prominent Auckland biscuit manufacturer, J. M. Mennie. In other places such as Wellington rotundas were paid for by the local council. The public and private wealth present in cities helped fund cultural amenities. Cities also had the audiences and resources to organise events such as the Auckland Exhibition.
