Devonport grocer

Devonport grocer

Two women stand under the verandah of A. Pulman's grocery shop in Devonport, around 1910. At this time the North Shore was only easily accessible by boat from Auckland, and Devonport was a rural suburb. Grocers in these situations were generalists – as can be seen in the sign, Pulman was also a confectioner and fruiterer.
