Kōrero: Manufacturing – an overview

Trade mission, 1977

Trade mission, 1977

In the 1970s manufacturers were increasingly interested in exporting. In addition to forays made by individual manufacturers, there were larger trade missions, with government officials or members of Parliament travelling with business people. The missions would visit businesses and meet with politicians. The group shown here is a trade and technical mission to Scandinavia, in a mine used for testing rock-drills and other equipment.
