Heavy vehicles bridge limit (2 o 2)

Heavy vehicles bridge limit

Because many rural bridges in New Zealand were built of wood, they can be quite risky for vehicles carrying heavy loads. Under the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, local authorities were given powers to set both specific weight limits and speed limits for vehicles on bridges. This wooden bridge at Waikawau in the Coromandel is obviously beginning to sag after many years of use, so the local council put up this sign with the weight and speed limits.
