Alice Basten, pioneering woman accountant

Together with her sister Caroline, Alice Basten was one of the first prominent female accountants in New Zealand. The Basten sisters ran a public accounting firm in Auckland for most of the 1920s and also taught accounting practice. Alice Basten was a member of the Auckland City Council from 1933 to 1935, when this photo was taken.
