The US Atlantic Union oil company, one of the offshoots of the massive Standard Oil Company, was prominent in the New Zealand market in the 1920s, when cars were first promoted and sold in large numbers. Soon after this trade fair was held in 1930, motor vehicle and petroleum sales fell sharply as the economic depression set in.
