In May 1840 news reached Wellington of the decision of the London-headquartered Union Bank of Australia to open a first branch in New Zealand.

I have bought this,what I think is pencil drawings.It says Auckland,s First Bank and then a short description of when it was opened(1841) It also says No.121 JET Thomas 75 which I take as the year this was done.The artist may even be JE Thomas but the way the T is incorporated between the E and the T for Thomas suggest JET.
