Anti-graffiti advertisement, 2009

Many city councils take an aggressive approach to removing graffiti, particularly tagging. The Wellington City Council funds a graffiti eradication programme and offers free graffiti-removal kits to residents. In 2009 the council placed advertisements about graffiti in bus shelters – ironically, as some people consider advertisements in public places to be an eyesore.
