A worker assembles part of a relocatable home at the Beazley Homes factory at Mt Maunganui in 1977. The company started in 1950 when home builders Barry Beazley and his father began expanding throughout the North Island. It was bought by Fletchers in 1973. In 1977 Beazley Homes built and equipped a factory for large-scale manufacture of relocatable houses. The Mt Maunganui plant could produce 40 units a week for export to the South Pacific. Many such successful small building companies were acquired by larger ones.
