In 1960 Winstone’s Wallboards constructed a new factory in Christchurch. The building of the factory is a good example of investment – it created new buildings and machinery for the production of a final good, Gibraltar board. The term ‘Gibraltar board' was a New Zealand name coined by the company in 1931 as a brand name for plasterboard.
