This high-rise building on Queen Street was opened in 1986 as the home of the Auckland stock exchange. The glass skyscraper appearance and the plush interior furnishings expressed the confidence of the exchange in the first years of market deregulation. Deregulation followed the election in 1984 of a reforming Labour government with Roger Douglas as minister of finance.
