The growing ethnic diversity of suburban and city life is celebrated in fairs and festivals, such as the Auckland International Cultural Festival. Held every year, this features the music, dance, food and crafts of people from more than 40 nations, and gives new migrants the chance to feel more connected to the wider city. Another crowd puller is the Communities Football Cup – in 2008, teams from the Somali community won both the men’s and youth divisions.
