Kōrero: Unpaid domestic work

New Zealand Gardener

New Zealand Gardener

The cover of the first issue of the New Zealand Gardener, published in September 1944, features tulips. However, the magazine’s aim was to teach the public how to ‘dig for victory’ during wartime – so the government allowed it to be published in spite of tight restrictions on the use of paper.
