Kōrero: Mail and couriers

Mail by truck

Mail by truck

A huge pile of 112 mailbags weighs down this Albion truck, shown here in 1911, probably in Wellington. Motor vehicles were first used to transport mail in 1909. By 1913 all of Wellington’s mail was carried by motor and bicycle transport.
