Ōtara market

Ōtara market

Ōtara market began operating in South Auckland in 1978 as a fundraiser for local charities. It quickly became a major weekend event in Auckland, with a distinctly Polynesian/Pasifika atmosphere, and Pacific Islands foods.

Hi there. Just making an enquiry to whether you hold any information on other markets. I have been involved with the Silverdale Market held in the Hall since 1998, running the market on the 2nd Saturday of the month for a chosen charity. My husband and I followed in the footsteps of his parents, Doug and Jessie Titford who we believe were involved with the establishment of the market, along with John Jones. This was to save the Hall. My husband thought it was formed just after the Otara Market, which fits in. I was wondering if you had any specific date that the Otara Market started, or anything about the Silverdale Market in the Silverdale Hall. Regards Sheryll
