A bus speeds unimpeded along the Northern Busway on Auckland’s North Shore, while commuters stuck in cars crawl along the motorway into Auckland, in 2008. Auckland’s urban sprawl has resulted in a car culture. Many people prefer to drive, even if it costs more and takes longer than catching a bus.
