Carisbrook, Dunedin’s legendary rugby and cricket ground, was often full in the late 1940s, the golden age of Otago rugby. Here men, women and children line up to get tickets for a Ranfurly Shield challenge by Southland on 31 July 1948. Otago won the game 25–nil.
