Dunedin cable car

Dunedin cable car

Steam-powered cable tramways were introduced in Dunedin in the early 1880s. This photograph, taken some time in the early 20th century by Frederick George Radcliffe, shows the no. 3 cable car in High Street, near the intersection with Princes Street. Its sign says, ‘Mornington, Dunedin City Corporation’.
