Auckland Hilton

When Parliament reformed liquor laws in 1989 it became much easier to open licensed hotels. International chains opened hotels in New Zealand, like the Hilton Hotel on Princes Wharf, Auckland, shown in 2006. The trend for larger hotels continued from the 1990s. Though hotel numbers have fallen, the number of rooms overall has increased.
