As its name suggests, the Sand Castle Motel on the Kāpiti Coast was designed with its location in mind by Wellington architect Roger Walker in the 1970s. Many motels are located on busy roads and rely on passing motorists for business, but motels like the Sand Castle, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Peka Peka, promote their unusual design and peaceful location.
