Parallel Imported is a chain of four stores in Auckland, and also sells goods over the internet. Parallel importers compete with traditional retailers by importing items directly from overseas. These are the same goods that are sold by authorised agents for particular brands. By not dealing with local suppliers, licensees or agents, goods can often be sold more cheaply. Parallel importing has been allowed in New Zealand since 1998.
