
Some pie-cart proprietors became local identities. In New Plymouth Daisy Lee – with charismatic manner, good looks, and beehive hairdo – drew people to Ping’s Pie Cart in the 1970s. She worked the counter with Henry Leong, who was famous for his fried egg sandwiches.
